Can you please suggest what I should change so that when I click on play, the video plays rather than the video area going black. I see the same problem when PM is in safe mode.

I am running UbuntuGnome 14.04 LTS.

I tried to follow the suggestions in your link but they did not help, perhaps because I am using PM 27.1.2 (64bit). I think that some of the suggestions should be no longer applicable but I followed them in case they made a difference.

Okay, just to be clear, have you tried:

1. A new profile?
2. Disabling MSE while on Vimeo and see if that improves playback?

Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but it may help to know, did you install PM using the installer tool, or through Steve's repo?

I can view videos on that site; I'm using the latest Mint with the Mate DE.

Had that problem on vimeo too, but not with all of their videos, only a few.

Disabling MSE helped me.
Go to: Options > Content > Video > uncheck "Enable MSE" or just the specific format.

Thank you. I can now play at least the one I just tested. Do you know why disabling MSE should allow me to see videos on Vimeo?

And another question would be why do only some users have to disable MSE to get video, while others don't have to disable it?
