Just signed up for Windscribe VPN after getting several recommendations, but when I try to install the Windscribe extension in Pale Moon, I get a message saying it is not compatible. Solution?

Looks like one other forum user reports that it can't be installed:

I believe it's a JPM jetpack SDK type addon so it might useable once the PMkit stuff JustOff and Moonchild are working on is implemented. We just need to be a little patient. I for one am willing to give Windscribe another try with the latest "nightly" build when that's available.

I just noticed someone posted on the addon's page a problem that sounded like what happened to me as well. So that may be a quirk or bug in the extension and/or VPN app.

OK, Pale Moon just updated and the release note says that jetpack has been added/fixed but the Windscribe add-on still can't be installed. Waaah!

Yea, I've known for a while it wouldn't work. I guess we'd have to find the problem ourselves, but I have too many other priorities right now.

Just because PMkit has been made available doesn't mean it will "magically" accept Firefox SDK extensions. The extension developers will have to make some adjustments (albeit small ones for most) for PMkit to make it possible to install.

Also... VPN, as I've said before, should never need a browser extension to work -- that should all be arranged at the network layer of your operating system.

The service does not need the extension to work. You can connect through the VPN assigned IP without it. That is necessary to use it for IRC programs for example. I admit to not trying to dig into it and track what the extension does, but its supposed to help browsing somehow. Windscribe folks might be helpful in explaining what the extension does if we asked since they've always been easier to deal with than most companies. But I don't expect them to add PM support for it.
