High Memory Usage

So, yeah, this isn't just a problem with Pale Moon x64, but this is the browser I have been using. The problem is that any addon cause the memory usage to shoot up, and Pale Moon starts eating up about 6GB or more of RAM. I went down my entire list, one by one. After a few minutes with any addons enabled, the Pale Moon is using almost all my RAM. Hell, I disabled all my plugins and addons and removed my theme, and it still had high memory usage. The only time it works right is when I set it to Safe Mode. Strange thing is, even though the memory usage shoots up, the 64 build of Pale Moon does not crash. It just gets sluggish and develops a lag. It is barely usable in this state. However, for 32 build versions of Firefox/Pale Moon, it crashes. This has become kind of big problem for me. It just started happening one day. I tried a lot of things just to get this browser working; I've even reinstalled windows.

Is there any suggestions for me to get this working? I would hate to be forced to use Pale Moon x64 in Safe Mode all the time or continue to relay on Chromium based browsers.

You might want to try updating to v15.1, released today. I've made some changes to specifically address out-of-bounds memory use by DirectX (would appear when hardware acceleration is in use on problematic drivers) and to address instability in the javascript engine which may actually pop up more quickly on high-end machines (yes, there is such a thing as too fast hardware).

So, try that first, and see if it helps.
Providing an output of "about:memory" when your memory use is very high may also give us more insight into where it goes.

Oh, of course. Updating didn't seem to affect the problem very much.

Hmm.. about:memory doesn't really provide much data for memory use -in- the browser, it just shows a huge 6GB chunk under "resident". Can you check if disabling hardware acceleration solves the issue? I have a suspicion that your ATI/AMD video driver may be at fault. Seems Catalyst 12.8's x64 driver is problematic...

Why didn't I ever think to disable that? Yeah, disabling hardware acceleration seems to do the trick. Um, thank you, Moonchild. Guess I'll try to get into contact with AMD and warn them about their driver.

Edit: Found http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=367977 while searching around.

Just in case this isn't widely known, I wanted to post a trick that has fixed Firefox, hardware acceleration and all, for me with the 12.8 drivers running Crossfired 7970s.

All you need to do is make a custom application profile for the firefox.exe and set Crossfire to Disabled. Instant fix, no need to disable hardware acceleration or use another browser.
