It's Easter. people are probably not adding support for anything new at the moment.

Good point. I just checked, and still no support. I'll check again Monday.

Still not there. This is becoming worrisome.

If I'm not mistaken, Ubuntu 21.04 is still in "beta" and it is going to be released to the public on April 22nd. The release candidate is supposed to be on April 15th.

Whoops...looks like I misread some blog!

Anyway, the OBS has added support now, so I can try test builds and hopefully iron out any build problems that may crop up.

Hmmm...21.04 "hirsute" builds now fail right at the start on the OBS, along with Debian Sid's--bgstacks have started doing the same for Devuan unstable, too.

Let me disable the monkey business that tries to determine the distrelease and set the threads for the build, and just force one thread, so I can see if that's the issue.

Yes, that got the builds past the fail point, so I hope they'll build successfully...but it will take a while with one thread. I don't see any sense of doing gtk 2 builds with bleeding edge releases, so they'll be in the GTK3 repo: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... emoon-GTK3

Since the build uses the output of an "lsb-release" command to determine the short codename of the release it's building on, such as "sid" or "hirsute", it appears that the output is no longer working on those releases, so it keeps using the standard mozconfig with four build threads instead of one, and that brought the old "make" with PM and multiple threads issue in Sid and now 21.04 back to life. I'm happy to see that it never migrated to Debian Bullseye, but less than happy to see it now in Ubuntu, and even less happy to have the workaround now stop working.

The repo for 21.04 exists, but no packages for Pale Moon in it at this time.
Just as information for other users who upgraded/installed Ubuntu 21.04.

Hi,

I just update Palemoon to 29.2.0, and this break the TiddlyFox extension; then, I need to rollback to previous version before find a solution to adapt or port this extension.
How can I rollback to previous version ?
There is no history found on your repo (https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... ntu_18.04/ I'm still on Xubuntu 18.04), then, where can I download the previous packet (palemoon_29.1.0 for gtk2_amd64.deb I think) ?
The following link is no longer active :
https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... _amd64.deb

As fallback process, can I manually replace files from the Palemoon tar archives (I found http://archive.palemoon.org/palemoon/29 ... tk2.tar.xz ) to simulate .deb installation ?

TIA for your help

You can just run the binary that is included in the 29.1.1 official tarball (EDIT: Wait, apparently it's not there yet) (EDIT2: Tarballs now available. Don't forget to check if its signed by trava or not.) instead, no need to install. Both versions can co-exist.

Now before you revert back to 29.1.1 though, have you backed up your profile? If not, you will have to create a fresh profile for 29.1.1. You can't downgrade a profile, as that will corrupt it.

Thank you for these tips.

Luckily, my other PC @home had stayed in 29.1.1, and I made sure it didn't change :)
And I also @home have a copy of my profile that I could restore.

So I have two options, restore a tar.gz made from the /usr/lib/palemoon and /usr/share/doc/palemoon directories from my @home PC to the @work, or redeploy the "palemoon-29.1. 1.linux-x86_64-gtk2.tar.xz "on the @work. And of course restore the profile.
I'll test both solutions and see which one is better.

One last question. The browsers of my two PCs were synchronized through my Weave server, only for bookmarks, passwords and preferences. This will not be impacted by the profile rollback?

If your Pale Moon installation at home is still at 29.1.1 you can repack the original .deb and then take that to work and install it normally.
Command is sudo dpkg-repack <package name> where package name is the original name of the application package (not the deb package name!), which in this case should simply be palemoon.
Did that once. Terminal will say where it places the resulting package.

Amazing, it's work !! Linux is really a fantastic world ...
Many thank's, I'll try to reinstall the .deb @work tomorrow.

You have to be aware that the older versions will have security exploits that the bad guys know about now, just from the fixes that have been published with the new version, so you're on your own with 29.1.1.

This is the situation with every browser out there.

Now populated-remember that I'm only doing gtk 3+ packages for 21.04 Hirsute and Debian Sid.

Why? I was happy to see a GTK3 version for 18.04 since I'm on Mint 19.2 and will likely stay there forever for various reasons. My GTK2 interface is not set up properly, looks ugly and can't find a way to fix it but in the mean time GTK3 looks OK.
Or have I misunderstood something in your statement...? :?

This is a different repo, so the Pale Moon Linux website need to be updated.
What is the correct URL to place in sources.list for this repo?

The GTK3 repo instructions are found by clicking the "download package" link for that package--there are several different sets of instructions for all the distro releases it supports. For Ubuntu 21.04, they end up being the terminal commands:
For Ubuntu 21.04 run the following:
Keep in mind that the owner of the key may distribute updates, packages and repositories that your system will trust (more information).

Code: Select all

echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/stevenpusser:/palemoon-GTK3/xUbuntu_21.04/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home:stevenpusser:palemoon-GTK3.list

curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:stevenpusser:palemoon-GTK3/xUbuntu_21.04/Release.key | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home_stevenpusser_palemoon-GTK3.gpg > /dev/null

sudo apt update

sudo apt install palemoon
