Oh, thanks (looking). Hmmm, since the OBS is doing the builds, I'll have it make gcc-11 versions for those that want to stress test those.

I never was able to successfully build 30.X in my repo, but the gtk2 29.4.5 is now in the repo, with the gtk3 packages now building.

Not sure it applies on Linux, but when I was building v30 on Win10, I had to make a small change:

Code: Select all

browser/installer/src/defines.nsi.in, Line 9:

-!define GREVersion "@MOZILLA_VERSION@"
+!define GREVersion @MOZILLA_VERSION@
For some reason, the @MOZILLA_VERSION@ variable was replaced with a string containing its own quotes, so it ended up double-quoted and failed to compile.

Thanks--I'll try that patch if the next 30.X release has similar problems, but have you reported that upstream to see if the source can revert that change?

I was going to, but GRE's kinda dead in the water so it shouldn't matter for much longer.

OK, 29.4.5.1 sources were uploaded to the OBS some hours ago, and the faster builds are pretty much all done (older x86 builds). Bringing up the rear as usual are the more recent Debian and Ubuntu x86 versions that don't support parallel builds, followed by the ARM packages that take ten times as long using the OBS's emulated build environments.

29.4.6 packages should be showing up as updates now.

I just checked, and the OBS has not added Ubuntu 22.04 as a build option just yet.

In the past, usually they've added new Ubuntu releases within a few days.

You can also remove Ubuntu 16.04, 20.10 and 21.04 because they are all out of support, this might speed up the build process for new PM versions.

Additionally, I have changed the website in the PM repo so that the GTK3-Repo is shown, but it hasn't been published yet.
Is there any reason for that did I something wrong?

Yes..the package name is still just palemoon, not palemoon-GTK3. The name of my subproject is palemoon-GTK3, but it just builds palemoon deb packages with the gtk3 part added at the end of the version:https://build.opensuse.org/project/show ... emoon-GTK3

Ubuntu 21.10 and development versions of Debian still need to be forced to use gcc-10, as well as having removed lsb, which broke the code I used to determine the distro release code name, making me use a custom build procedure in the impish-sid instruction. I'll have to see what code they're using now in place of lsb. Anyway, all the debs end up in the same repo--you just have to click on the palemoon or impish-sid subsection, then on the download package link. It should be the same for both.

Just launched the 22.04 builds, now that that's been added to the OBS. Should be ready in some hours, since it can only build using one thread.

I've uploaded the 31.0.0 debianized sources, and removed the Debian 9 (Stretch) repos, since 31 now requires at least gcc-7.1, and Stretch only has 6.3. 31 also seems to have solved the "make" issue with newer Debian and Ubuntu releases that would fail with parallel builds, so hopefully will build faster. I'm also trying builds now with the default gcc-11 on the latest Ubuntus, plus Debian testing and Sid. I'll probably have to add some stuff to force a gcc version when gcc-12 makes it into upstream Debian.

Thanks for keeping up with the changes both internally here and externally, Steve! I'm sure all Ubuntu/Debian users think you're a godsend :)

Actually...

WE DO !!!  8-)

But I have a quick question if you don't mind :

I see GTK3 mentioned but I can remember Pale Moon always being offered/installed as a GTK2 application : Will all builds be GTK3 from now on ?

There is an Ubuntu/Debian repo for GTK2 and for GTK3.

I've dropped the GTK2 builds for the most recent distro releases, but could add them back if requested.

I'm "gitting" the source now for 31.1.0, and the first command of three ran the download at the normal very high speed, but the one (git submodule init && git submodule update) that populates the platform subdirectory is running at ancient dial-up 56K modem speeds, like 6KiB/sec. Maybe the server is overloaded right now?

Sorry that you're having issues with download speeds at the moment. The repo server is under very heavy load off and on today. I'll have a look if there's anything I can do to improve it, but it may just need a few hours to settle after a bunch of people all want to build from source and hammer the server.
