Problem with certificates

Post by gerhoncod » 2016-02-07, 19:45

When I try to open my gmail account within Fossamail, but not always, I get the warning as in the attachment. I try to make an exception, but the warning reappears. How can I permanently get rid of it, please?

I think the cause may be the :465 at the end of the server address. That is the port number, which in the settings googlemail has in its system do not have the extra detail.

Are you running an antivirus software? A large majority of anti-virus software hijack HTTPS certificates for no real valid reason.

Maybe! But how does that comment solve my problem?

Because the behavior of antivirus software probably is the problem.

I think his question is really asking how your response actually helps him to find out how to figure this out. Pointing it out is fine but if your going to try to help then it might be helpful to give a few tips on how to check if this is indeed the actual issue.

Yes, how to sort it is what is wanted.

Actually I looked in the Mozilla TB forums to see if there was a similar thread there. There was but following its advice did not make sense. IIRC it was quite old, and Google may have played games since.

In regards to the AV comment posted by half-moon, you could add an Exception to your Exception list within your AV app at the time this occurs to see if this stops the behavior.

In the most cases you only need to put your email adress with password and FossaMail then add the in- and outcomming server settings.
Ah and you only need to choice between POP3 / IMAP.

Maybe you could remind me what the server settings should be? :)

You need to look at your email provider for the settings.
