you propose that as if it was a logical thing to do..
lol i can't do that.. not the right client for such activities.
& at worse, i sometimes disable addons to find culprits, but
imagine someone making screenshots or building a list of all
settings of each addon, regaaardless of addons that have updates
in "about:config" of palemoon lol.

i must have done that once in my life, never again.

if something would be interesting, it's a tool that cleans properly
prefs.js

that could be an option, but it demands a lotta knowledge & accuracy.

Making a new clean profile and testing that vs your old one is the only way forward (I've personally never seen many of the addons you use, and is perplexed by the [TEST] inclusion). If the issue persists between new and old profile, you should disable RetroBar and test again vs the two profiles.

Making a new clean profile
Don't waste your time any further, it's clear this person is incapable of following simple instructions repeated multiple times and will go on rambling incoherently instead.

To the OP - we are not mind readers. Post your damn troubleshooting information as instructed or fix your problems yourself.

They did post it, though, so pipe down a little.

Looking at the information though, it seems to be a very old profile that got migrated over from Firefox or a clone, and has a metric shit ton of changed preferences, including many undocumented ones; this means the rest of the data contained there is likely also brought over from whatever browser was used before and it's likely some nuances in profile data are causing your problem here. We do make changes to the browser beyond what is needed to "just maintain it" and if you have a complex setup copied over from other browsers it can occasionally cause issues.

The best way forward is making a new profile. Install only those extensions you're actively using; don't force compatibility with the "tester tools" or what not (instead look for maintained alternatives on addons.palemoon.org). Be conservative with your preferences: less is more, and don't wholesale import preferences from Firefox-based browsers (e.g. hardening scripts or what have you). Treat it like the different piece of software it is.

Is this after you've created a new profile?

no, i'm not rushing to create a new profile, it's like asking me to buy a new car when something's wrong in my actual setup, but i've always had console errors
with classic addons anyway.

We can't really help you until you do. So, it's up to you: create a new profile today and move forward, or continue with your current profile and be frustrated every day until you do.

I took time to explain this for a reason. Just ignoring it because you perceive it as inconvenient ends my willingness to provide support.

@ xenergyx

Maybe you do not understand this, but creating a clean new profile does "not" destroy the old profile which you are using now. You will have two "separate" profiles. This is the best way to check if something in your old profile is causing your problem(s).

My guess is it is an old extension or your's that is causing your problem and that guess is "eCleaner" which was modified by someone named AstroSkipper.

Code: Select all

Name: [TEST] eCleaner
Version: 1.4.1-signed.1-let-fixed.1-signed
Enabled: true
ID: {c72c0c73-4eb0-4fb3-af0f-074e97326cfd}
I cannot find it in our official extensions for Pale Moon.
MX Linux 25.1 (Infinity) Xfce w/Pale Moon, Waterfox, Firefox
Linux Debian 13.3 (Trixie) Xfce w/Pale Moon, Waterfox, Firefox

Off-topic:
Looking at this thread and replies in other past topics, I believe many people do think creating a new profile means obliterating the one they use and lose all their data. Maybe "separate clean profile" would be a better name but it's a mouthful.

Trying out fresh profile would at least give a clue whether the profile is a factor. I can understand the frustration when it comes to random problems that aren't straightforward to reproduce.
