i also report the same issue with unable to login yahoo mail
if previously i had logged in before and cookies not cleared, i would be able to access my email as account already logged in.

any new attempts to login will fail.

nothing of interest in devtools console. not sure why...

It looks like Yahoo have changed their web portal and I can also no longer get in using Palemoon. I do, however, still have access via Epyrus (Palemoon's sister email client) with a Yahoo app password. Epyrus works very well and I actually prefer it to the website version.

but! I installed thunderbird and exported all my emails and then backed them up to a zip file and deleted everything off the yahoo site. I'm done with yahoo and their bs.
plus the last tos agreement says they will be selling emails and data so I've had enough

Be glad you did. Because if you did not and stayed with your email account, Yahoo will sell your emails to data brokers and in turn, those data brokers will sell your emails to "every Tom, Dick & Harry".

In other words, you would soon been seeing lots of "phishing" emails in your Yahoo emails if you would have agreed to Yahoo's "terms of service".

FWIW, Thunderbird is a popular installed by default application in many linux distros. Two installed examples. In Mint which I used to use. And now with MX Linux and Debian which are the distros I dual boot.

I have the same problem in Pale Moon 33.9.1. I have a Windows 10 (which I hate) PC running a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with classic desktop ( which i love) in vmware 15.5.6).

I do not know how to change my user agent to test the workaround. Also I noticed that it was suggested to change the agent for specific url's; so some description of how to do that would also be helpful.

I also saw a suggestion using the yahoo mobile site. When I googled how to do that, this seemed to mean trying login.yahoo.com as opposed to mail.yahoo.com. Both of these url's produce the same falure for me.

Please help.

I couldn't log into Yahoo Mail either, so I made the add-on "Yahoo Login with Encrypted Firefox Cookies":

It is recommended to use the latest version of the add-on, the one with cookie encryption ( Yahoo Login with Encrypted Firefox Cookies 1.1 ). You can find the download link in my post on that page.

I think your email "address" is what Yahoo is selling to data brokers.

But if you deleted everything off of your Yahoo email account, is it really deleted? It may look like you deleted everything off of that particular server, but Yahoo has backup servers with user's email addresses and what not.

You will have to ask yourself one question and that question is; The "stuff" I deleted, was it deleted from the backup server or servers as well?

On "privacy-respecting" laws

One of the major ways various privacy frauds advertise themselves. I've pretty much ignored this issue while rating singular providers, since it's so common and requires a dedicated section to analyze. The claim usually goes something like this:

"Our service is hosted in (insert uber-private country of choice), which, instead of (insert non-private country of choice - usually UK or the US), has super-strong privacy laws. Only a valid court order can force us to release your data!"

You might have already detected the issue while looking at the last sentence. The "super strong privacy laws" claim is based solely on whether a court order is required to release the data. Let's assume they do bring that valid court order - what ends up mattering, then? The data that a service has actually stored, since they can't release what they don't have. Nothing prevents a service from storing whatever they want despite being positioned in a supposedly privacy-respecting country. More than that, many of the countries commonly claimed to be private actually force providers to store certain data. Examples from specific providers above:

Dutch law forces StartMail to store your invoices for "7 years, or whichever period may be prescribed under applicable tax law".
Norway does the same to Runbox but for even longer - "as financial records must be kept for 5 years according to the Norwegian Bookkeeping Legislation"
MailFence (Belgium) keeps deleted account data for a year - "i.e. the Belgian law imposes 365 days after account closing"

I was hoping I wouldn't have to revisit this thread. However as of yesterday I can no longer login to Yahoo Mail.
Even PopPeeper is returning an "OAuth2" error trying to check Yahoo Mail.

I can still press the Ymail button on the toolbar and I'm automatically logged in by protected cookies.
