Most recent update 33.8.1.1 displays the title bar that I don't want

Post by Pallid Planetoid » 2025-07-31, 20:20

Operating system: Win10
Browser version: 22.8.1.1
32-bit or 64-bit browser?: 32-bit

I had this before (which is what I want):
No title bar used.png
I have this now (today after update):
title-bar present.png
(I don't want what has occurred as of the last update, i.e., I don't want the the title bar but instead want what I had before, i.e. the button to mix in on the same line with the tabs - as illustrated in first screen-shot)

**********
EDIT: I found an exact example of what I had before and what I want to keep w/ same theme as above that I am currently using:
the way I want PM to be w-out title bar.png
**********

I have the following settings (as they have been for many years):
browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar - set to "true".
browser.tabs.onTop - set to "true".

What do I need to do to get back to what I had before the last update (as illustrated in first screen-shot above). Prior to this most current update, I had what I want (as illustrated in the first screen-shot, albeit a different theme that is incidental to the issue). The browser 'Pale Moon' button needs to be on the same line as the tabs and not display the "title" line at all in order to save space.

The display you want is the state when the window is maximized. The title bar is shown when the window is not in a maximized state.
Double check that the window is in a maximized state. Alternatively, I believe there is an extension that allows you to have this in a windowed state? I may be misremembering though.

That was it - thanks for the heads-up!

The browser was so very close to maximized (w/ a minuscule portion of the edge of browser not fully maximized) that I didn't notice that it wasn't fully maximized. :eh:

I'll have to keep this in mind (to avoid that title line getting displayed).

After thought (as to why the unique situation)... this time (upon starting PM) I had noticed the update window getting displayed (and had not yet used the browser after starting it, as I was doing something else at that moment) - and responded only to the update window dialog and did a restart at that time within the update window subsequent to the update completion. So I'm wondering if by what I did in a non-conventional (not typical) way (i.e. not using the browser itself - but just responding to the update and restarting the browser from that dialog) ended up changing the "maximum" state just a small tad leading to my (title-bar) issue...? in as much as the browser started up subsequent to the update in the manner it did in a not fully maximized state (which is not typically the case).

... just surmising, why the different launch of the browser occurred than usual...
