Online radio station website doesn't play anything

Browser version: 33.7
32-bit or 64-bit browser?:32-bit
Problem URL: https://radiobrowser.com
Browser theme (if not default): default
Installed add-ons: uBO
Installed plugins: (about:plugins): default

If possible, please include the output of help->troubleshooting information (as text):

No station plays on https://radiobrowser.com
I click play on any station and nothing happens. No error messages.

Stations play when using FF on same computer.
Other radio websites play normally on same computer.

Please help!

Can confirm, tried this with a clean profile with Pale Moon 3.7.0, and I get no error or status bar info or anything else of use when I roll over or click on the "Play" button.

I get "TypeError: navigator.mediaSession is undefined[Learn More] other.js:299:9" in the console.

The mediaSession API is tightly interwoven with mediaKeys (part of EME). There were alternative HTML based proposals but they just got snowed under/pushed out by you-know-who's implementation-first strategy...
Effectively, this would want to extract metadata from playing audiofiles (if present) and expose that as read-only to the browser content. That really shouldn't be part of a web browser and belongs in dedicated media players.
For the sake of webcompat we could implement something static, of course, but I'd rather just not "pretend to have it", instead.

I have VLC installed. Is there a way for PM to direct the playing of the stream to VLC then?

I tried to see if MPV would pick up the audio stream if I pointed it to the radio station web page URL, but it would not for me. Is there a way to extract a stream URL that can be fed to vlc or MPV?

My usual strategy to find the URL for a stream on a web page, is to use the Inspect Element tool of Pale Moon and then use the "Pick an element from the page" icon and click on the Play button of the web player to display the general area of the page where the URL might be.

Then I scroll up or down looking for a likely address. This I then paste into foobar2000 (which was previously recommended to me on these forums!) to see if it plays.

As an example, for this page https://radiobrowser.com/listen/popstar-radio I was able to find https://streaming.live365.com/a40380 in the source which worked fine to listen to with a suitable player.

Of course, none of this solves getting such music streaming sites to simply work with Pale Moon.

No problem listening to bookmarked radio stations. Stations are in Western Europe and North America.

Thank you for this as well! It provides the stream url and also the homepage for stations for is a great addition, specially for viewing the info of the tracks being played.
Using VLC to play the stream urls worked of course but sadly it doesn't display the track info. After searching for other radio players, I found one called AIMP that does display the track info. It's more of a media library organiser though, so it uses quite a bit of resources to play.

Thanks @suzyne for the stream extraction method. I'm guessing this works with other sites that provide media, so it could be handy. For radio though, I think that radio-browser.info site is the best.
