I often google/DDG some image and copypaste them directly into Messenger (which I run in Firefox). At some point in past (no idea when, it's been some time, months at least, probably much longer) this kind of stopped working, and I have to load the image directly, otherwise Messenger complains with a small "Invalid file format" popup.
For example:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=stranger+thin ... lej4ez.jpg
If I right click on this image and click on "copy image", it doesn't work. It previously (unknown time ago) worked. Now I have to do an additional step and click on "view image" first, after which I can copy it in such way it can be pasted into Messenger.
It works just fine without the extra step if I do it from Firefox.
I have no idea what's wrong, but perhaps someone can figure it out and see if it's something that can be fixed or adjusted.
It's just an annoyance, but a weird one.
PM 33.4.0.1 on Win 10.

Re: Unable to copy image unless displayed directly
I just tested that link and right-clicked/copied, then pasted into my paint program, which worked just fine. So, I'm not thinking this is a problem with Pale Moon, but rather with the messenger running in Firefox having a problem with what's on the clipboard.

I did the same as MC, but pasting into i_view32, worked as normally expected.

Does this happen on end-to-end encrypted messaging sessions (I assume you're talking about Facebook messenger in Firefox?) and non-encrypted sessions, or only one or the other?LuftWafflePilot wrote: ↑2024-10-12, 11:21Messenger complains with a small "Invalid file format" popup.

Re: Unable to copy image unless displayed directly
That would make sense, but why can I paste it into Messenger if I copy it in Firefox and not if I copy it in PM? That's really weird.
edit: I can paste the picture into MsPaint just fine as well. It's the part where copying the image in PM not working and working just fine in FF that puzzles me and why I figured PM must be doing something differently since Messenger complains.

Both, but encrypted chat says the thing about invalid format while non-encrypted simply says "Upload failed".BenFenner wrote: ↑2024-10-13, 00:04Does this happen on end-to-end encrypted messaging sessions (I assume you're talking about Facebook messenger in Firefox?) and non-encrypted sessions, or only one or the other?LuftWafflePilot wrote: ↑2024-10-12, 11:21Messenger complains with a small "Invalid file format" popup.
