I had a browser session with multiple windows open each with multiple tabs. I had another program lock up my computer so did a reboot. After booting I opened Pale Moon and only one window with the start page appeared.

I do have the browser set to startup with the previous windows and tabs and it has always worked perfectly before.

When I open the history menu items recently closed tabs, recently closed windows, and restore previous session are all greyed out but my history is there. Is there anything else I can try or am I out of luck.

Thanks

Check your profile folder for the file "sessionstore.bak" - if it exists, make a copy somewhere. Close Pale Moon, rename the file to sessionstore.js, copy it back to your profile folder then restart Pale Moon. If you are lucky your old session will be saved in it, but no guarantees (it depends among other things if you have closed/restarted the browser in the meantime and/or how much active time in your current blank session has passed).

Hint for the future: always bookmark sites you want to visit later, don't rely solely on volatile open tabs/windows.

Thanks for the suggestion but it did not help, after doing your instruction only the startup pants appeared again even though I did not close the browser or use it at all. Now looking at the timestamp of sessionstore.bak the time is the time when I opened the browser after the reboot.

Thanks though ;)

I use the add on Session Manager 0.8.1.14. This allows me to load (manually) the last saved session (or at least this is how I use it, it allows also loading a crashed session or other sved sessions).
NB I use it along with a long list of bookmark folders both in the bookmark menu and the bookmakrs toolbar (for a higher level hierarchy). The "session" is "more transient"

+1 - I've been using ti for years and it's very useful and very reliable, if set up to save regularly.
