Link preview in the (lost) bottom bar of the browser window

Unread post by uwethomas » 2021-01-12, 13:01

Hello there :)

(running Windows 10) since the last security update of Basilisk (which a sort of crashed Palemoon settings while open at the same time with Basilisk), Palemoon browser is not showing any more the bottom bar and therefore also no (internet address) preview when you hover over a link on a page.

Is there anything what could be done about it?

Greets

Uwe

Re-initialise the component by going to about:config, and setting status4evar.firstRun to true (double-click) then restarting the browser.

Thank you Moonchild for your kind advice.

I did as you have been indicating, but for some reason my setting to 'true' is not going to be saved and always (tried it 3 times) goes back to 'false' after the restart.

Am I missing any point?

That is as expected.
It's a one-time flag. When you restart, it will re-initialize the component and flip the pref to false (indicating it's done)
If you are still missing the status bar after that, try hitting Ctrl+/ as you may have inadvertently hidden it.

Well, still missing the status bar after trying to do as you recommended in your first reply.

So, you mean I should hit Ctrl and + and / at the same time?

And when should I do so?

After changing the proposed setting from false to true and/ or during restarting the browser? :)

I am a little confused, I must admit ;)

If you don't like keyboard shortcuts, just go to the menu --> Preferences --> Status Bar and make sure it is checked.
