How to override untrusted connections?
So, a website I regularly use just gave me this message today:
Usually when this happens, I can just click "Technical Details" and a button would be there to ignore the message and go to the site, but it's not there anymore.
Any idea how to deal with this?

I can't test with your site but if I test with https://badssl.com/ for expired certificate, I get the option to add an exception.

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
Maybe you should tell the webmaster that the certificate has expired (or anyway it's invalid).
That would certainly fix the issue.

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
If you can override depends on the exact nature of the ssl error and related factors.

You could try toggling security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled from True to False in about:config then restart PM to implement the change. It will hopefully give you the option to bypass the warning, but obviously you should only do it if you are very sure that the site is safe.

I just tried that. No change.Scribe wrote:You could try toggling security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled from True to False in about:config then restart PM to implement the change. Hmm, it's worked for me before, but maybe it doesn't work for all errors. You did restart PM? I suppose clearing the cache might be worth a try. Since the certificate is out of date, presumably the site owner will realize that it needs updating... eventually!

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
There are several situations where you won't get an exclude option. One example of that is if the website in question is loaded in a frame -- because that could be used to spoof the host and trick users into adding an exception for a malicious site. There's more, just an example given.
Without you providing more information, we just have to assume it's one of the situations where it was by design to not offer the exception option and you'll just have to get in touch with the webmaster to get their certificate fixed.

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
The website seems to be working again. I think the webmaster might've updated the certificate.

Is there any setting to stop this message appearing up so much?gepus wrote: ↑2019-03-19, 12:56I can't test with your site but if I test with https://badssl.com/ for expired certificate, I get the option to add an exception.

And that should tell you that Firefox doesn't care as much for your security as does Pale Moon (so why would you want to disable it?).Dypsis wrote:

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
Because I don't care as much.
Especially knowing for a fact that it blocks safe sites.

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
Maybe stop going to shitty websites that are too cheap to renew their SSL certificates? Or is it such a hassle to spend 2 seconds adding an exception?

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
If a add an exception there is a checkmark to save the exception for the future. This is by default set, is there a way to make the default opposite i.e. not set? I think this would be more cautious case i forget to unset it.
Re: How to override untrusted connections?
No need to be nasty.
I was just asking if there was a way to override it.
If there is not, then my question is answered.
Thank you.

He wasn't being nasty. He was just stating the obvious: if you're clearly more happy about Firefox not giving you essential security information because you actually don't care about your connection not being secure, then you should use Firefox.

Re: How to override untrusted connections?
Excuse me for being so blunt but i do not see the point of this thread. It was in plain english on the initial post what the problem is.
"certificate has expired"..!?.....so the obvious conclusion is that the certificate has expired..wow isn't the english language wonderful.
Typing cramp from several posts could of been saved if actual reading was accomplished.
Does seem odd that firefox did not issue a warning as firefox is reportedly red hot on certificate revocation.
