When an image is displayed in this gallery mode, clicking with the zoom cursor has no effect. This occurs in normal and safe mode, and does not happen in Firefox. It began with one of the recent updates.
To duplicate, go to the location below, then click on the image. At this point, click on the image again.
In the gallery mode (I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology), you should be able to click on the image and view it at full resolution, but nothing happens. You can page from one image to the next, but not zoom and pan.

Everything seems to be working fine here. If I click on the image of the beetle, it opens a larger view. If I click it again, it zooms in to the image and i can move the mouse around to pan across the image.
