Bad Font Rendering on 28.7.0

Some sites have bad font rendering with Pale Moon. It looks almost like there is no anti-aliasing. Firefox and Chrome look correct. Here's one example:

In case it doesn't occur on all systems, here are a couple of sample files. The bottoms of lower case g, for example, and the tops of most capital letters look bad. Also, the width of the character lines does not seem uniform. (The browser smooths these png files, but you can download them to view the original screen displays.)

I'm not sure whether this occurs in previous versions of Pale Moon.

I'm still on the previous version of Pale Moon. First link, no problem that I can see. Second link, I see the problem, but I'm not sure what you mean by "the width of the character lines does not seem uniform." Last link, no problem.

You can see the non-uniform line width on the capital E or capital S. The top horizontal line is twice as thick as the bottom. Here's a magnification of the example:

Please post troubleshooting information.

I see the problem, particularly with the 'E'. At any rate, if you give Moonchild the info he requests I'm sure he'll be on it.

To provide the info - go to Help->Troubleshooting information -> Copy text to clipboard, and enclose it in a 'hide' tag here before posting.

Looks like you clicked the first button 'copy raw data' since it's as one giant JSON structure. The second button 'copy text' is more readable, could you edit your post and replace it?

The problem here is a problematic (old) driver.
Please update your graphics driver to something newer than 2013.
When that's done you should be able to re-enable direct2d and directwrite which will vastly improve text rendering speed and fidelity.

I updated the Intel and NVidia drivers and set gfx.direct2d.disabled to false, but there was no change. I also tried setting gfx.direct2d.force-enabled and gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.force-enabled to true, with no change.

Hardware compositing is disabled, so you're using cairo which precludes using direct2d.

Try resetting the layers.acceleration.disabled pref and restarting the browser.
