"Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
Hi,
Since the last upgrade, every time I open a new (empty) tab, I get this error message:
I also get this message everytime I click on an open, but not yet loaded tab. This is extremely annoying.
Moreover, Pale Moon regularly crashes completely when I open a new window.
How to fix this?

Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
Again, how about some very basic information please!

Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
Does the issue persist if you restart in Safe Mode?
Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
Thanks for the replies guys, I reverted back to 27.9.4, where everything works fine. Current release was just unusable
Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
I do hope you realize that if you reverted to 27 with the same profile you had in 28 without
having a back up from PM 27, your going to have problems.
The upgrade to PM 28 is a one way street as has been noted in the release notes.
Sad, instead of actually figuring out what your issues were, you gave up. In fact, you didn't
even try, or give the basic information to try to help you.
You do know that there were a lot of issues with PM 27 that have been fixed with 28
that will simply get worse as time goes by?
Well, good luck with that. Next time you want help, give us the info we need to help you,
and take the time to do the things we ask so we can figure it out with you, and fix it.

Unfortunately this means we can't help you, now or in the future.palemon wrote:Thanks for the replies guys, I reverted back to 27.9.4, where everything works fine. Current release was just unusable
With the release on Pale Moon 28, our focus is entirely on the new milestone and we can't (and won't) continue support for previous versions of the browser.

Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
I experienced this issue with PM 28 as well.
By process of elimination, I found the culprit to be the Cookie Monster extension. Removing Cookie Monster and replacing it with the Cookie Masters fork from the extensions page has fixed the issue for me.

Re: "Please enter a valid hostname" every time I open a new tab
I encounter the same problem.
Just installed ver. 28 and every new tab causes this error message to jump. Also on a reload of a previously saved tab.
OS: Windows 7 Professional
What type of details do you need?
Thanks.

As indicated, there is a new problem. I can't see any of the extensions. The header says 70 (which is not realistic in my opinion, there are icons of generic extensions but the line is empty.
The original problem was solved after I installed the "Cookie Master" extension. I didn't remove any other extension but the problem is gone.
I'm bothered by the lack of access to the extension management page though (same goes for plugins and themes). The pages are empty.
