- Go to this page, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... iginal_Aus
- Press Ctrl-D and click Done to add the page to the Bookmarks menu.
- Press Ctrl-B to display the Bookmarks pane, and expand the Bookmarks Menu to show the recently added bookmark.
- Drag the bookmark from Bookmarks pane to the Windows Desktop. The mouse cursor changes as it moves over the desktop, to the one that normally indicate that I can drop a shortcut here, but when I release the mouse button the shortcut does not appear on the desktop.
The problem does not appear to be directly related to the presence in the bookmark name of characters that are not valid in Windows filenames. Eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template: ... e/Muhammad works, with the invalid characters removed from the desktop shortcut name. Also if rename a bookmark that fails to something short and simple (eg "test"), or save it with that short name in the first place, I still can't drag it to the desktop.
Version 27.0.2 also has the problem, but 26.5.0 works (on the same PC).
In all cases I'm using Pale Moon 32-bit version, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit.
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ is down at the moment, so I can't search for this problem there.)
