Display bug issue on Windows 10 with AMD Radeon

Post by Steve_Criz » 2016-05-09, 07:13

I wish to report what appears to be a bug with Palemoon 64 (Version 26.2.1 x64) running on a Windows 10 Pro desktop with an AMD Radeon 5700 series display adapter (latest AMD driver - 15.301.1901.0 installed), where various elements of web pages fail to display.

The elements that fail to display most frequently are photographic, or 'graphic' (such as logos/icons) though some instances of text not being visible have also occurred.

The worst instance of non-displaying material is in fact the Palemoon 'Start.me' front page, where many of the various 'icons' - such as Vine, Youtube, Deviant Art, G-mail, etc, etc... don't appear above the text showing where they ought to be, while other 'icons'/logos such as Spotify and all of the icons under the "Discover" heading appear as expected.

The issue appears display adapter related, as my Windows 10 tablet PC running Windows 10 home, has no issues in Palemoon V26.2.1 x64.

Mind you; I have noticed a difference in the ability to post to forums with the two machines through Palemoon!! The tablet version posts without issue, while the Desktop version fails to post... I'd have thought display adapter issues wouldn't affect the basic functions of a browser - though the fact Palemoon is running on Win10 home on my tablet, and Win10 Pro on my desktop is also a possibility for creating some of this "bug" like behaviour.

Anyway - I just figured I'd report this. It's not annoying me enough at this point that I am about to curse and threaten to use Chrome or Opera as a form of retribution... I doubt it'd ever get THAT bad!!!

Anyway - any insight would be appreciated.

Could you please do a few things for us:
  • Provide us with basic troubleshooting information: help -> troubleshooting information, copy as text and paste in your reply (using a
    tag, please)
Sorry if this is annoying because you have forum post issues and it may not 'take" the first time.
[*]Narrow it down by going into Options -> Advanced -> unchecking "use hardware acceleration when available" and restarting Pale Moon.
[*]Narrow it down by disabling all your extensions and restarting, then seeing if the problem persists.
[*]Try seeing if you can reproduce with an older driver (e.g. catalyst 15.4 or 14.12); since you're using older hardware, it may be a driver interaction issue with the latest (R-series geared) drivers.
