Yandex Maps problem

Post by pangolin » 2016-04-19, 10:27

https://yandex.com/maps/ and local (yandex.ru) version don't work in Palemoon (26.2.1 x64, Win7).
Old version of maps (https://old.maps.yandex.ru) works OK. Restart with addons disabled doesn't help.
Maps work in Waterfox and IE 11.

Seems to work fine for me, apart from a lot of grey squares where it apparently has "no data for that location"

Strange..
I have cleared cache and disabled all add-ons but to no avail. I can actually see the map, but I cannot move it, zoom it, or do other things. I'll try to completely reinstall Palemoon.
Anyway, thank you for your work))

A little follow-up.
1. Complete reinstallation didn't help.

2. I tried some randomly chosen clean portable versions.
Maps do work in Palemoon 11.01x64. When I click on "+" in the maps interface the map is zoomed and redrawn at higher detalization. I can measure distances etc. Status bar says "Transferring data from api-maps.yandex.ru" and "Read api-maps.yandex.ru".

In other versions maps are shown and zoomed only as bitmap image, they are not redrawn and maps interface is not working. Status bar only says "Done".

I have no problems whatsoever panning or zooming the maps, myself. As said the only issue there seems to be is that it shows grey squares where there should be map data, quite randomly. It's quite possible the maps server is having issues and randomly doesn't serve files properly; if that happens to be an essential script, then it likely won't work at all.

Try completely clearing your browser cache, see if that helps?

EDIT: I've poked at it some more and it seems that their web application is simply too impatient and stops trying when it doesn't immediately get data served (zooming in and out repeatedly on the same section of the map clears the grey squares for me) so there's something for them to look at to make their maps web application a bit more robust.

Most of the time I get something similar to the attached file. Zooming a few times clears it.
Definitely seems like a service issue -- the map operates just fine otherwise (using x86).
