Links in Ebay stop working

Postby pan111 » Sat Apr 09, 2016 7:53 pm

Recently I bought some things on Ebay. The sellers provided tracking numbers. If I click on a tracking number hyperlink, all is well and it goes to info about the item's transit whereabouts. After closing that pop up and trying to go to another link, they don't activate. I have to reload the page to get them working again.

I've been able to replicate this with PM Version: 26.2.0 (x86) on Win 10, including in safe mode. Was not able to replicate with other browsers that I tested with.

It isn't just you. We had this problem and a whole bunch of other ones with their site too. I don't think that they know how to design a site. It always is having problems.

This isn't a browser bug.

I've actually already been in touch with eBay about this. Apparently for us they don't remove their page-covering overlay whenever there is a pop-to-front box (which is used for tracking numbers and possibly other things). This prevents any further clicks on any element on the page afterwards since it is "covered" with a transparent element. Only a page refresh helps.

I've given them all the relevant data they need to solve this issue. I'm still waiting for a response (this was a number of days ago).

If it is a site fault, how come it doesn't occur with Google Chrome?

Probably because Google Chrome has the highest percentage of usage, and since that's the case most sites will tailor their website design to it.

Moonchild, does this have anything to do with the XSS filter? Or with UA sniffing? (Does this problem also occur on Firefox?)

I don't think so.

I don't know -- you can give it a try?

I haven't seen any obvious errors thrown in the console either, so there doesn't seem to be a particular issue with their scripting that Pale Moon doesn't like.

Doesn't seem to be the case. I'm sure they would have been more responsive to the report if it had been.

Also, if you haven't done so yet, please send bug reports to eBay. The more reports they get, the more likely they will be to give this attention.

changing Pale Moon's user agent to a recent Firefox version didn't resolve issue. I cleared cookies - no luck. Of course it works in Firefox... ugh
