V8 JavaScript Engine: Retiring Octane

Apparently it is largely because browser engine makers have been optimizing to the test (surprise! :D ) and some other increasing divergences with real-world loads. Sounds like they may yet come up with a new generation version at some point.

It is still online, just unsupported. (One commenter pointed-out that they like to use it as a sort of system benchmark between different generations of PC hardware, even if it isn't a perfect JS performance indicator)
