Microsoft Security Essentials make no problems nor modify your HTTPS traffic, have no ads and is free.
I dont see any thing wrong with Kaspersky - its one the best but if i chose to one of install their programs it would be the paid version Internet or the totalt security program.

I myself have used bitdefender since February 2013, the first two years the their paid AV and for the aklmost last two years i have first use the Internet security and since August/September 2016 i have Their Total Security.

For the privacy-conscious (efficiency, too) I'd suggest Emsisoft's products (link takes you to their Privacy Policy - quite unusual for an A/V vendor, data collection is kept to the bare essentials).

You are very welcome!

But microsoft has added the same to Windows 7 and 8.1.

dark_moon, what do I do with those spells you posted? Tried chanting them in a pentagram of candles but didn't do a thing. Tried again with casting chicken bones to the four winds and nibbling on bat ears first, still nothing.

Question : What program do you use to remove Windows 10`s spy behavior and you use this program`s default settings? Answer : For i windows 10 im useing O&O ShutUp10: https://oo-software.com/en/shutup10 It is constantly updated as a program, you can make tinene back to its old state inside the program itself, the user interface looks clear out and there is info and help for every function you can turn on and off as deepens what the function does. The best program of all I have checked on the page you link to, and I used to select from, then in 2015 I installed Win.10.

Useful links and posts above.
It took almost one month (with 2 re installs) to tweak and config Win 10 (1511 build 10586) here, to get as I like.
Striped from all apps, whistles and bells, deleted edge, cortana, defender etc...blocked some other things too...only essential drivers and services (espec. disabled Security center, Win firewall, Win Update, Background Intelligent Transfer, Win Management Instrumentation and Win search), no codecs, update when and what I want, if I want. From 'origin' I have only explorer and ie (disabled as default). Tried to delete ie too, but somethings was broken so, hence re install.
Have installed 'only' 9 external programs (mostly because kernel, etc) av/fw, backup, crypt, sandbox, vpn, etc. Otherwise I prefer portables.
I was very satisfied with 7 too, but last one and half year I never had more stable, secure and responsive OS. From 'on' button to PM forum less then 15 sec. No issues, crashes, errors, at all...not even a single message.
And also very important, since I know nobody in Seattle... 'Not now mr.Nadella, maybe later'.
Since post is actually about Antivirus, I tried most of them. Free and paid. Last 5-6 years I prefer Kaspersky and Eset. This time I have Eset IS (real time file system protection disabled as default), very light, very configurable and excellent fw.

I have read that even if you run all thse fancy apps to disable this and that, etc, they will get reverted with a forced update that 10 does now. When I do get 10 (just for gaming) I will get one of these and just block all of M$'s ASN's. That will insure nothing goes out or in from Microcrap.

Please move win10 discussion over to the proper thread and keep this on-topic. thanks.

The problem is that I do not know what to do with those links and the code you posted. How do I use them? It's all sorcery and black magic to me.

Another question, not sure related, but seems to.
Do you know this Ancile thing: https://bitbucket.org/matthewlinton/ancile/ Does it do the same (or similar) thing as your misterious links and code? Is it safe to use (will not turn the computer into a doorstop, that is)? Should I use it in addition to (or instead of) to your thingys?

1-2 (updates): you uninstall them via the usual Add/Remove programs component of Windows.
3 (tasks): these are Windows schedules tasks that need to be disabled. You should execute each line separately in an admin command prompt (google this, very easy).
4 (registry changes): same as 3 (admin command line prompt)
5: Service changes: same as 4
6: Hosts: web addresses that need to be blocked via the Windows hosts file, or with a software firewall, Windows' own or 3rd party which is preferable.

Ancile is good (yes, it does similar things as above), but make sure you know what you are doing before using it.
