Hello! I hope this is the correct subforum for my questions; if not, kindly move this post...
I have only just gotten started with Pale Moon, having been advised to try it, after I've been having no end of trouble with my Incredimail XE (older version, 5.3). I read on Mozilla's forum that someone with a similar prob downgraded their Firefox to version 3 or 4 which helped. Anyway, my main trouble is, my Incredimail stopped working. It was still functioning about a year ago, as I recall. I have not been using it for emailing, only for storage and file organization of old important stuff which came from email boxes online which don't exist anymore. Recently I discovered to my horror that I could no longer get into IM, the splash screen refused to come up. I looked into my hard drive and apparently, everything is still there, in place. I even hit the EXE file to see what would happen, and now I keep getting an error message, also an icon for "installation later" which doesn't work. *Grumble*
So, a trusted friend volunteered to email VIP support for me. I realize version XE is no longer supported, but i paid for it back in the day...so it seems somebody could advise me what to do?
Now that I have changed over to Pale Moon, I find that my IM really IS bringing in emails; the tray icon suddenly began to function with the moving arrow. My IM had a glitch where it brought in those annoying, unwanted copies of copies of copies. That was one reason I had to stop using it on a regular basis. So, although the glitch is still annoying (I know those emails will be piling up in there!), it is working after a fashion. But can anyone with a knowledge of Incredimail advise me as to why I cannot actually open the program?
I realize it is possible that updating my IM to the latest version would correct the problems. But I'm not real keen on the idea, as I hear that new issues can arise... I'd rather be able to just "fix" the current situation.
Thank you,
Rosebud

Re: Trouble with Incredimail
I know nothing about the program, myself - only that it causes extremely large e-mails when you use it because it sends all sorts of "prettification" along (sometimes even sound file and everything) that likely doesn't even display correctly in other mail clients...
As far as I know Incredimail is a stand-alone application -- what on earth would that have to do with Pale Moon? Why would it suddenly start working again after installing Pale Moon? It's a conundrum - unless it somehow wants to use your "default browser" as a back-end in the program, which would simply be plain bad design

Re: Trouble with Incredimail
I suspect my IM began working (well, sort of) again after installing Pale Moon b/c it seems to want to function only with certain browsers (and PM is similar to Firefox 3). And yet, one friend has told me that her IM crashed again and again till she began using Google Chrome. I tried that, but it didn't help me at all! It never entered my mind that IM would be affected by different kinds of browsers. I've even been told that it won't work unless you have Internet Explorer as your default. Go Figure!!
You are spot on correct about the 'prettification,' LOL. Animations galore, sound files, exotic borders. I would send such glorified emails to Yahoo users who told me "please, STOP!" because the images and text would get all mixed up with each other... That was before I understood that IM emails don't display right, unless you are sending them to other IM users. Eventually I quit using animated illustrations, fancy borders and music files, just plain text mails. But I did appreciate the nifty folders and subfolders...which is where my old important emails are hiding, currently...and unfortunately I can't open the program to get at them...

Re: Trouble with Incredimail
I'm sorry but I don't know how to help - You would have to ask the Incredimail people.
As an aside, Mozilla Thunderbird (and my spinoff MailNews) also support a full folder/subfolder structure, so it may be a good alternative if you can rescue your archived mails from incredimail.

Re: Trouble with Incredimail
Thanks anyway and that's OK, I realize this was a weird problem, but I was advised by another party to try Pale Moon (I'm glad to be here, though!).
Seems the Incredimail FAQ advises downloading the full setup to get it running correctly...I presume that means you get their latest version, Incredimail 2, which supposedly is very similar to XE. I'm a bit leery. A friend has sent off a VIP message, so now all we can do is wait with fingers crossed...
