The anniversary swag is finally here!

Unread post by Moonchild » 2022-05-12, 15:03

Originally planned to be available on the 12½ year anniversary for the project last month, today I finally received the (heavy) box of swag items I want to offer to everyone as a way of receiving something back for your support to the project. Delays galore due to some communication difficulties with the producer and then shipping delays because of China's lock-downs...

I know I've been tight-lipped about what exactly it would be, but having them in hand now I'm happy to announce the one-time availability of unique Pale Moon challenge coins!

I'll be setting up a listing for these soon (probably using Ko-Fi's "Ko-Fi Shop"). Purchases will help support the project and get you something unique. These are a limited single run only, so I'll limit the number of coins any single person can buy to have everyone have a fair chance at getting one and avoid hoarding/scalping.

I have made some (as in not enough) donations to this project, and I think this coin will nudge me to do so again.

That coin is really beautiful, you must have put some serious time into the design. Can't wait to get mine.

Put my order in a bit ago. Curious what type/grade of metal it's made of. Any info there?

If production followed what was ordered they should be brass base metal (Cu/Zn alloy). The finish is definitely silver plating though (yes real silver).
I've asked for confirmation what the base metal is in these, as there is/was a slight brass shortage that was mentioned. I'll let you know when I get a reply.

Nice, thanks for the info. Mostly just trying to avoid lead/cadmium. ;)
(Not that I was expecting any.)

 Beautiful, what is the motive on the "tails" (slogan) side? It looks like a map, but of where?

I think that was supposed to look like the moon, not a map.

It's the moon logo; there's only so much you can do in metal relief :)

I got a reply and the foreman stated it's brass.
If that's somehow not correct then it would be a Zinc alloy (primarily Zinc).
Either way the grade would be absolutely pure - no heavy metal contaminations to be expected.

$2.75 for shipping to SEA region? That's not bad.
Shipping note: Shipping will be regular untracked letter mail at your own risk.
Fair enough, for the low shipping fee.

Mine arrived today in seemingly perfect condition.
Thank you again Moonchild and crew!

Whoops, I uploaded pics too large to embed on the forum. I'm too lazy to resize right now so here they are:

Thanks for letting me know the global postal service isn't fully incompetent yet ;)
Glad y'all enjoy the design and result!

A small note to keep your coins in perfect shape: best to transfer from the PVC bag to cloth or mylar for long-term storage. Especially in warm conditions or if left in the sun, PVC tends to slowly break down and release acidic compounds that can damage the coin over time.
