Profile Backup Tool Enhancement Request
Profile Backup Tool Enhancement Request
I understand that the Profile Backup Tool is meant to be, and is, minimalist, but could it be enhanced to add in an automatic deletion of old backups, please?
What I was thinking was to have an option along the lines of "Keep the x most recent backups" where "x" is a number that can be selected by the user.
This is purely a laziness enhancement. Such an enhancement would save me a momentous 4 mouse-clicks.
Thank you

No.
if you want to delete old backups, just delete them in your file system.
Also, where would you be making those 4 mouse clicks? Are you restoring backups on a daily basis? If so there's something wrong with your workflow.

Thanks for the response. As I wrote initially, this is pure laziness on my behalf.
To answer your points. Just deleting them is what I do currently.
The 4 clicks are: first, in the backup tool, click to open the backup directory in Windows Explorer; second, in Windows Explorer, click to select the backup to delete; third, click delete button on Windows Explorer toolbar; and finally, click "Yes" when prompted to delete (or "Remove to Recycle Bin").
I backup weekly, and save 4 backups on an external drive. I haven't yet had to restore a backup, except for testing.

Re: Profile Backup Tool Enhancement Request
Oh you meant the clicks required in your case to delete old backups. I thought you meant in the tool. My mistake!
You do realise that you can automate something like this with scheduled tasks (combined with a simple batch or powershell script) in Windows Explorer if you really want to avoid having to make four mouse clicks a week

Re: Profile Backup Tool Enhancement Request
God forbid. So is your next request for an automatic ass scratcher too?

Doesn't Windows has something like cron for scheduling tasks? You could use that instead.
EDIT: Oops, I just realized Moonchild already suggested that above. My bad...
