Pale Moon profile backup tool - select items to backup

Unread post by uzzer » 2021-06-03, 06:35

It'd be great if we could select what we want to backup - e.g. bookmarks, sessions, history, passwords, add-ons. Currently, I am not even aware what is actually being backup-ed.

That's not within scope of the tool.
It backs up the profiles and restores the profiles, as a whole. Everything in it.
Selective backing up and restoring isn't what this is designed for. It is meant as a full backup for safekeeping of your profile data, not to selectively pick choose and merge data from different profiles. If you want that you probably want something like FEBE or another extension that has direct access to individual profile data through the browser APIs (which an external tool can't access without being hacky and dangerous).

I see, thanks.

Then it'd be great to have some text in the extension, explaining that everything is going to be backuped, so that one is confident this tool does the whole job.

I think that's unnecessary.
The tool's name and description are clear to its purpose. I don't want to complicate the UI with oodles of text to "comfort the user" with reaffirmation of obvious functionality.
It's a profile backup tool. It makes backups of the browser profile. That is its singular purpose and that is clear already.
