What are the differences with Firefox?

What are the differences with Firefox?

As a general note, Firefox is created with maximum compatibility in mind, Pale Moon is created with efficiency and speed in mind. These two approaches are pretty much mutually exclusive, and result in some functions being enabled/disabled in one browser but not the other. For extensive detail on the actual differences under the hood, please check the technical details page and the various threads on this forum.

Please note that Pale Moon and Firefox are different applications and while they have common ancestry, they are individual applications with their own features and development direction. Currently, there is very little left of that common ancestry and the two will only grow further apart as time goes on.

Pale Moon has a number of changes to the user interface and feature set, even when comparing to the common ancestor, to provide an as intuitive, predictable, logical and usable user interface as possible for the best user experience. Most of these changes are user-configurable, and can be changed to what you wish, unlike in Firefox. Additional and removed features are, of course, specific to Pale Moon's fork from Mozilla, meaning you may find some different way of working Pale Moon than what you are used to from other browsers, and cannot compare 1:1 with other browsers.

Note that Pale Moon will never adopt the Australis (Firefox 29-56) or Photon (Firefox 57 and later) interface.
