Preserving XUL Add-On Documentation

Forum rules
Tutorials and Howtos should only relate to Pale Moon, and not to third party applications. e.g.: Don't post a Howto for configuring your firewall.
If you have a question how to do something, you should use one of the support boards, not this board. It is meant for people to document and post instructions.

Preserving XUL Add-On Documentation

Post by Baloo » 2020-07-16, 21:06

Hello,

Just a note for those involved and interested. It seems that this website https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... XUL_School is going to be taken down at the end of this year. Since it contains vital information, it should be preserved. Does anyone know if this website is actually backed up and preserved? Additionally, the "Information and resources about Add-ons" link on https://developer.palemoon.org/ is broken. This site leads to nowhere: https://developer.palemoon.org/addons/

Would this documentation be worthwhile to host at that location? Just some food for thought as Pale Moon gets feedback on how we can get folks to fork extensions for Pale Moon for the future.

This book could be useful, too.

Wow!!!
I wasn't aware of this book!
I cursorily skimmed it to see which type of contents it has, and apparently it explains how to build toolkit extensions, which is a good thing.
Unfortunately being for Firefox in 2009 some parts probably don't apply to Pale Moon in 2020, but it still seems to be a useful read nonetheless.

Thanks so much for linking that book! I'm definitely going to take a look at it as well. Something for my spare time. There were even two other good XUL articles written as follow-ups to the book, for anyone interested:
