Only the i686 32 bit version of Pale Moon 27 will run on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise. If, you're running U 12.04 64 bit, you will need to install some i386 libraries to get PM 27 to run. I installed libdbus-glib-1-2:i386, and libgtk2.0-0:i386 which brought in other needed i386 libraries. I followed the instructions to do a manual install of the PM 27 for Linux. It's working well for me so far on my Ubuntu 12.04 precise 64 bit install on a USB hard drive. You might get similar results on Debian 7, CentOS 6, and Slackware 14.0. Linux Mint 13 maya has the same base as Ubuntu 12.04.

If you're going to be running a lot of 32-bit software on 64-bit Ubuntu (and derivatives), you can install the "ia32-libs" package - the description is "Meta-package which depends on all common 32bit libs" so it should all the needed libraries for the majority of 32-bit-only programs. (Of course there are going to be some oddball ones out there, but this should at least ease the pain.)

I was able to get PM 27.1 32 bit to work on Debian Wheezy 64, after installing ia32-libs-i386, libdbus-glib-1-2:i386, and libgtk2.0-0:i386 .
