Linux subdomain retirement
Speaking of...
We have https://developer.palemoon.org/docs/linux-faq/ and https://developer.palemoon.org/docs/linux-installation/
Is there anything specific on linux.palemoon.org that needs to be retained/ported across, or are things covered there?
TBH aside from not breaking old links on external sites needing a redirect, I don't see a need to keep Artemis alive.

Re: Linux subdomain retirement
Shouldn't this Linux subdomain topic be split off from this "I found a VPN" topic? Just so people can find it.Moonchild wrote: ↑2025-05-26, 19:51Speaking of...

I only use the GNU/Linux build instructions myself, didn't even know about that FAQ page. Most of the useful stuff is usually found by searching this forum.

Re: Found a VPN software from a university which has instructions for Pale Moon users
Yes, this page shall be kept, and shall be given visibility ! I have bookmarked it since it is somewhat hidden. I sometimes quote it on other forums to people asking for the best way to "install" Pale Moon (which for me is, getting the tarball, following a subset of instructions in that page, and configuring auto-update pr update-after-notice according ot taste).Moonchild wrote: ↑2025-05-26, 19:51Speaking of...

There was recently a discussion on an Ubuntu forum due to some changes in Steve Pusser's repository, with some people suggesting fudges to the distro address, and other people saying that is a deprecated way (if you are interested the thread - in Italian - is at https://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.p ... 0#p5391770)

Done.
Which I think is as good a place as any. the websites have been kind of underused as it is, especially since it's not been convenient to edit content on it (requiring manual editing of files with their own non-standard markup) but I'll be damned if I'm shoving it into a piece of bloatware like Django or god forbid the security Swiss cheese that is wordpress.andyprough wrote: ↑2025-05-26, 20:18Most of the useful stuff is usually found by searching this forum.
developer.palemoon.org isn't going anywhere. linux.palemoon.org should go, though.

... what does that have to do with linux.palemoon.org?

Re: Linux subdomain retirement
I see that now the page, bookmarked as linux, redirects automatically to developer. I do not know (and it's not my business to know) whether this occurs/red via a Redirect/Rewrite directive, a virtualhost or a real separate server.
For what I'm personally concerned I could update the bookmarks (I would do it soon), but the linux URL might have been spread off to the net. Some form of alias or redirect would be useful.

It's why I've put the redirect in place.Lucio Chiappetti wrote: ↑2025-05-27, 08:21but the linux URL might have been spread off to the net. Some form of alias or redirect would be useful.
I'll keep the front-end in place for the time being with permanent redirects, eventually phasing the subdomain out (not right away). People will just have to adjust their bookmarks/links. The Internet isn't static.
