Regarding constructive discussion on this forum.
So, I just looked at the locked "constructive discussion" forum page which was made a decade ago. I have no intentions here, but in the offtopic board, is talking about brainrot like "skibidi" a ban trigger? Like I said, I'm just curious, I'm not going to make a random brainrot post in the offtopic board.
And if I seem like a nuisance on this forum to others, I'll come back to the forum in 3 years. I decided that if I can't tone down my posts, I should completely stop posting for a while. I'll find a way to help when I can, and other than that, I'll be a spectator on this forum.

The "Off Topic" forum is like the "wild west" since it does not have a moderator that I know of. But I think Moonchild does keeps tabs on that forum.

One other item about the "Off Topic" forum. Unregistered members (lurkers on here), they never get to see the Off Topic forum because it is "not" listed or shown to them if they visit the Pale Moon Forums site. It is hidden from them.
Also, even if you are a registered member on this site, I think if you log out of the Pale Moon Forums site, you will not see it listed for you either. It has been this way for a long time. It may have changed, but I think it is still this way.

Re: Regarding constructive discussion on this forum.
We do want to avoid highly polarizing topics even in off-topic, if we can. There are usually dedicated fora elsewhere for those, anyway.
Also, posting there just for the sake of posting or to push boundaries (i.e. "in bad faith") may have consequences. Also, how you behave there will impact how you are treated by the community because it is still displaying behaviour to us all. It may be a "wild west" but even in the wild west there were some general concepts people adhered to. Let's just say it ain't 4chan /b/ (random).

Never been on 4chan (or even peeked a little) myself, but liked the documentary The Antisocial Network (2024) on Netflix. I had no idea that the Anonymous hacktivists had their origins on 4chan. Interesting stuff.frostknight wrote: ↑2025-05-14, 23:32I have heard bad things about 4chan and not even just on wikipedia either!

Funny, when I think antisocial network, I can facebook, twitter, discord,\ etc...
Basically if it calls itself a social network, its probably the opposite.
Mastodon has some similar problems but at least they don't sell your information if you use one that is up to date on vulnerabilities.
I hear some right wing mastodon instances deliberately don't update as much for this reason. Clever, but nasty.
I imagine they probably just add patches for security of website but not privacy, etc...

I've been on quite a few social media (but not all), from BBS's & IRC to LunarStorm & 4chan & MySpace to Reddit & GAB & Discord & Minds.com & Communities.win & Sanctaury.
The worst ones are always those having upvotes & downvotes, and limiting posts in some form. Which quickly leads to toxic cliques, polarization, and losing nuanced debates.
Sadly, those types are the most popular because they lead to outrage and hence more interaction due to emotional conflicts.

Yup, I sadly see that you are always getting downvoted on r/browsers for suggesting Pale Moon.Gemmaugr wrote: ↑2025-05-16, 23:48Off-topic:

The irony of that is palemoon is an open source web browser - of course the branding.MasterSlenderTR wrote: ↑2025-05-17, 00:43Yup, I sadly see that you are always getting downvoted on r/browsers for suggesting Pale Moon.
And google chrome, safari, maxathon. opera and edge all are proprietary but I don't hear people getting criticized for recommending using those.
If this is in fact the case those same people who don't thumb that down are hypocrites.
I say this because palemoon is criticized for security problems which I don't see btw!

If people have concrete security problems with Pale Moon they should report them to me.frostknight wrote: ↑2025-05-17, 02:21I say this because palemoon is criticized for security problems which I don't see btw!
As long as I don't get any reports detailing issues, I cannot evaluate them or address them.
Have at it. Be detailed and specific. Let me know what's wrong that hasn't already been explained/debunked and I'll give it attention. Otherwise stop spewing nonsense.

Don't know if Maxthon is ever recommended, anywhere? But if it was, I would be shocked if it wasn't immediately criticised (perhaps even more than Pale Moon) but for different reasons related to questions about country of origin and privacy!frostknight wrote: ↑2025-05-17, 02:21maxathon ... but I don't hear people getting criticized for recommending using those.
