horizontal ruler
not working?

Unread post by Raava » 2023-10-18, 16:47

The icons above the edit area when creating a reply or a new topic has some stuff added that are not part of a vanilla phpBB forum.

When I click on [ hr ] it adds this into my edit area:

Code: Select all

but when I use the [preview] the area is not displayed as expected. E.g. I expect this
First part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.
───────────────────────────────────────────────
Second part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.
The "────" line simulates the horizontal ruler.

Instead I see this:
First part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.

Second part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.
Is that as it should be?

Example without [ quote ] :
First part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.

Second part with many lines. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Etcetera.

Adding text in between the [ hr ] also not helps:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet
...
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet

Off-topic:
Minor nit-pick: it is a horizontal "rule", not a "ruler". See definition 4-a-(2) of its verb form for reference.

Easy mistake to make for a non-native speaker of English, especially since rule and ruler in some contexts are used interchangeably ;)
