This is not the first time I've heard about CloudFlare throwing their weight around for dubious "technical" reasons.
You (Moonchild) are probably already way ahead of this, but if you're looking for honesty in tech from a company that offers some (all?) of the services you'll need replacements for, I suggest giving
www.nearlyfreespeech.net a look.

That's a shitty nickle and dime webhost. We don't need a shitty webhost.

They are also extremely opaque about their pricing.
By the way, for $0.50/day base price i could get a dedicated VPS that doesn't charge "cost is per-item: per web site, per MySQL process, or per domain for DNS, Email Forwarding, and RespectMyPrivacy."
Lots of hidden accumulating costs there.
On top their policy starts off with "nobody likes rules" sorry but when it comes to server hosting I like rules. A lot.
Also, i'm getting tired of having to split and relocate posts that start off with a relevant sentence then go off on a tangent that is barely related and derails threads. Ben, please make new topics if you want to talk about something "by the way" or "you might also like this"

One man's "nickel and dime" is another man's fully transparent pricing with options to take or leave whichever or whatever they wish and not subsidize services others use but you don't. Full freedom of choice.

None of it is hidden, as you easily found out.
And while it does accumulate, it accumulates extremely slowly in my experience.
If you'd like to know anything else about it, since I'm using the service, I can try to help.
If you've ruled it out, that's cool, too.

Understood.
To me, they are related, since I'm not in the minutia like you are.
I'll try to do better.

It wasn't easy to find out. And they certainly aren't upfront about the costs you can expect like just about every other hosting out there.
Nobody in their right mind charges for hosting services on a "per process/db/forward/etc. per day" basis.
