RSS feed for Off Topic board?

I had an enforced absence earlier this year, and when I returned whatever changes were made to rss broke my rss reader.
Whatever - it was old.
So I switched to bamboo-feedreader which works fine. I'm curious as to whether the 10 new posts limit per board is down to you - I suspect it is since I see it in both bamboo and live bookmarks. But I'd welcome clarification.

Anyways - Off Topic board. Live bookmarks tells me it has an rss feed, and shows the feed.
But I can't get it to work in bamboo and don't know why.
I've tried:
https://forum.palemoon.org/app.php/feed/forum/66; and I've tried:
https://doofy:PW@forum.palemoon.org/app.php/feed/forum/66
Don't work. And I don't know if this is me being thick or uninformed, or using crap software, or is your pref.

One. You DO have to be authenticated to read the off-topic board. TWO. The forum does not use basic authentication so user:password@host urls won't work.

Three. I know a way to do it but I am not gonna tell you.

http auth for feeds is an option in phpBB but I've always kept that disabled due to MitM credential sniffing risks if used as a plaintext URL login.

FWIW, inforss reloaded will work with the palemoon forum. You need to enter your username and password to set up, but after that it works fine.

The forum doesn't need a log in to set up; only the OT board does. And infoRSS uses a simple auth which MC states above he has disabled.

I'm confused - Live bookmarks shows me 4 feeds, and I can subscribe to all of them.

Those are just for general new posts if you examine them, not for offtopic.

Livemarks use the same session information for authenticated status namely the cookie for the forum. That is why livemarks work as long as you are otherwise logged into the forum. A profile manipulation can be used to get the same thing to happen in Interlink but as manually manipulating profiles for any of our applications is unsupported.. Yep. This what.. extension.. infoRSS must not be including any cached session states when it requests something. Thus with basic auth disabled, you can't get to an authenticated state hence why you can't use it to read a feed from the off-topic board or other such special feeds. Cause even when not logged in that requires a cookie to function properly even though it isn't being associated with any specific account.

I would have thought it would be obvious since almost all of the pieces I just put together for you above are already in this thread. So disappointing!

The 4 feeds are global for the forum. They are unrelated to the board you are in, which would be a additional feeds offered.
Tobin, although I initially thought the same it doesn't seem to be the case. You cannot subscribe to the board or individual topics in it, even with Live Bookmarks.

I realise that (now). but the original post said:

So what I don't understand is how he was seeing the feed with live bookmarks

Livemarks (assuming that's live bookmarks) doesn't show a feed for the off-topic forum at all. At least not for me. This is contrary to what the OP posted and this is the non obvious part that I'm trying to get my head round. And is a reason for my post as I could subscribe to all the supplied feeds using inforss with no problems (and I can subscribe to the individual feed for this topic, and see the headlines for that)

As I explained it shows feeds, but the feeds it shows are forum-wide. You can still subscribe to any of those feeds from a board that is restricted, but you won't be able to subscribe to the board itself or topics in it.

My perception is that behaviour has changed since I wrote the OP.

It has changed.
There was a feed for the Off Topic board visible in the offered list when this thread was first opened.

I subscribed to it as a Live Bookmark.
The feed address was: https://forum.palemoon.org/app.php/feed/forum/66

However it disappeared from the list of feeds shortly after this thread was started.
The live bookmark, which was formerly populated, is now an empty feed folder.

Sorry for the confusion, in that case.
It was noticed the off-topic board was still being crawled through feed fetchers and ending up in search engines anyway, which was NOT intended; that was corected.
