Date Format In LAST POST Column

Post by van p » 2019-06-10, 03:49

The date format used to be like Sun Jun 09, 2019. When the forum migrated something changed. I'm just now realizing that I get the format just described (which I want) only when I'm logged in to the forum. When not logged in I see like 2019-06-09. What's goin' on? Can this be 'fixed?' Thanks.

Click on your User Name (top right), select User Control Panel - Board Preferences. In Date Format at the bottom choose your preferred format, click on Submit. Go back to the Forum and refresh the page.

When not logged in, the date format is set to international (ISO) format yyyy-mm-dd.
If you want personalized dates, make sure you log in.

This was done to provide as little confusion as possible for visitors who do not use English and/or do not use a month-day-year date ordering (i.e. everyone but the USA)

Giraffe, the date format is and always has been set the same, the way I want it. Thanks.

Thanks, Moonchild. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but if that's it, that's it.

Yeah, unfortunately for you it just means you'll have to log in or remain logged in.
With a pretty strong increase in non-US users of the browser, using an international date format for guest visitors seemed to me like the best choice.

I am good with either ISO or US date format. Indeed, I prefer ISO my self because it just isn't ambiguous.

MM-DD-YYYY and DD-MM-YYYY both can be easily confused half the month every month. So YYYY-MM-DD is always good. Also nice for file sorting even for http auto index and bash where there aren't lots of special cases in a system for natural sorting routines.
