Dear Forum users,

We value your community involvement and respect the privacy of your information, which is why, as a precautionary measure, we want to advise that you change your password on your forum account.

Recently, security firm 4iQ discovered a new collective database on the web (more information here) containing over 1.4 billion plaintext passwords. In order to protect you from this global security breach, we strongly advise to change your password.

In order to to do that, please go to your user control panel (click your user name top-right and select "User Control Panel"), go to the "Profile" tab, then select "Account settings" on the left, and fill out the form to set a new password. This procedure will ensure the security of your account.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that changing your password regularly (especially when using shared systems), using strong passwords, and especially keeping different, unique passwords for different online services and websites greatly increases your security and can help prevent account breaches. We recommend you leverage the built-in password manager of Pale Moon (secured with a Master Password) to remember passwords for you, or for you to use an external password manager.

It's important to understand that this external data breach does not necessarily mean that your account is not safe, but as a precautionary measure we want you to take this action and change the password.

If you have any additional questions, please let us know (in the discussion thread).
