Suggestion for the forum bulletin board

As far as I'm can see, after you mark the notifications, the show's over.

Am I missing something?

Marked read means that you... marked them as read. Meaning you won't see the notification. If you want to unsubscribe from a topic you need to go to Manage Subscriptions just above there.

These features are built into the phpBB core system.

I guess I gave this thread a misleading title. Sorry.

It should have been called "Deleting notifications", and as it indicates, I'd like to be able delete my notifications.

Though I suppose some people like to save stuff like this (my former boss had every single email he ever received - about 650,000!), I don't want or need them.

Is it technically possible to create a button to do this?

Thank you.

Like I already said.

They will drop off.

ImageThanks for your reply, but I don't want the notifications - whether I'm subscribed or not.

If this isn't technically possible, OK; if it is, though, I think it would be a useful feature.

And wouldn't it save storage space? I mean, there must be thousands and thousands of old notifications stored on a server somewhere that no one ever looks at.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks again.

You can set preferences to control which notifications you get related to subscriptions and threads:

User Control Panel > Board preferences > Edit notification options

Thanks. I guess that's a step in the right direction.

The bad news is that the old notifications are still there, and I don't want to unsubscribe from those threads.

Thankful for the help so far, and not wanting to be a pain in the a--, I'm still wondering why there's no delete button for posts once they've been read.

Marking all the posts as read only works until cookies are deleted at the end of my session, which means it's basically useless.

Again, thank you for your help.

You can mark notifications as read. You can NOT delete them from the list of past notifications.
Past notifications are listed in that list for historical purposes only -- why is this a problem, exactly?

I wouldn't really call it a "problem". It's just that I like to choose the way my "stuff" works.

I dropped Fx because they decided to limit my choices.

Well, this isn't "your" stuff. This isn't even "my" stuff. It's forum software created and distributed by the phpBB Limited company.

OK.

Have a nice weekend.

And by the way, a personal thanks for the wonderful browsers the dev team and you have made available.
