Website outage - mirror site?

Unread post by PhilK » 2017-04-09, 01:20

Regarding the recent website outage - I'm curious what ballpark amount of data is involved.

Because if the size isn't that large and it's just a non-public mirror, I would consider mirroring content on one of my servers/accounts if that would be useful in case an event like this happens in the future.

It's appreciated but not necessary. The server provider is taking steps to prevent this kind of outage (since it costs them -- they have a high-uptime SLA) and also providing additional automated backups for faster recovery in case a calamity might strike anyway.
