Review account warning
I'm getting a big reddish warning bar at the top: "Please take a moment to review your account e-mail address and update it if necessary."
I changed email and passwordbut it won't go away, even if I "X" it. Typical security reminder or something else?

Re: Review account warning
I changed my email too, and confirned it, and still see the red warning box. So it isn't specific to you or any one user. I think MoonChild has gone over to the dark side and is now collecting data for the NWO spy organizations.

Re: Review account warning

I only checked that my email-account is correct, i didn´t change anything.
Since then i have not seen this warning anymore.

Re: Review account warning
I didn't even notice there was an "X" to close it until I looked for the 4th time (after reading comments here).
Damn 4k monitor just makes controls like this SO FAR AWAY from the actual text of the message that my brain still has trouble connecting the two and seeing the controls.

Edit: I'm not crazy! The "X" does not show up unless you hover the pointer over the red box! Dynamic user interfaces are the devil! My own personal hell over here...

Re: Review account warning
I get the same warning. My question is different.
What does Pale Moon need or use my E-mail address for?
I have never, to my knowledge, entered my E-mail address (my user name shows on the E-mail line when I get to the correct tab on my profile).
I have no problem accessing the forum etc. What am I missing?

Re: Review account warning
I would imagine that if you forgot your password or accidentially changed it and got locked out of your account, they would need an email address on file to send a reset password link to. Otherwise, you'd be out of luck and have to start a new account.1210_bex wrote:I get the same warning. My question is different.

Re: Review account warning
It doesn't (unless you use Sync). This is about the forum, not the browser.1210_bex wrote:I get the same warning. My question is different. What does Pale Moon need or use my E-mail address for?

Re: Review account warning
I think you might find that you did give PM an E-mail when you first signed up for the forum. Most forums will ask for these details.1210_bex wrote:I get the same warning. My question is different.

Re: Review account warning
Everyone was reminded to check the accuracy of their registered e-mail address. Everyone; not specifically aimed at anyone, and no, this has nothing to do with "going over to the dark side" and everything to do with making sure your account is recoverable in case it is compromised or in case you forgot your password.
This reminder falls under "best practices" for any site that uses e-mail addresses of users.
Clicking the X will dismiss it, and it won't come back.

I think this was meant to be in jest as we all know you better than that.Moonchild wrote:and no, this has nothing to do with "going over to the dark side"

I have no idea, but it does not indicate such.rabnbeinn wrote:I think you might find that you did give PM an E-mail when you first signed up for the forum. Most forums will ask for these details.1210_bex wrote:I get the same warning. My question is different.

If I go to the Forum's User Control Panel->Profile tab->Edit account settings, the entry for my Email address is the same as my username, and the Email address entry box is highlighted in red. So I entered there my legitimate Email address, deleted the '*****' next to new password, entered my current password in the bottom box, and hit Submit. Then I get an acknowledgement that the change has been made.
However, when I close and then reopen the User Control Panel, the Email address shown is back to my username. I have tried this several times, including logging off of the forum, closing and reopening Pale Moon, etc. The results are always the same.
So what is the trick to providing my actual Email address to this forum?
