I am under the impression (could be wrong) that it doesn't. I often use "new posts" and sometimes I completely miss certain topics, usually located in more general areas like "The Bulletin Board" (e.g. General Discussion & Off-Topic).
If I post in one of these sections, then these messages will appear in "new posts". At least I think it works like that.
A kind reminder we would like all registered users to weigh in on one of our forum's security policies.

Off-topic is explicitly excluded from searches. The "new posts" search functionality also draws on whether posts are indexed for searching or not. You should still be able to see them listed under "unread", though.

Well obviously that behaviour marked as solved has been changed, as that restriction was lifted. ;P
And no other parts of the forum were treated specially (aside from naturally restricted boards like for moderators etc.)

Re: New posts function: does it include all Forum sections?
The "New posts" feature of any forum can be very valuable, highly trafficed, and is my go-to place most times on other forums.
I particularly like how I've implemented it on my own forum.
The "New posts" feature of this forum specifically though, is awful, and I've always found it lacking in a few key areas.
(Same goes for the "Unread posts" feature.)
I'm happy to hear it's been updated! I'll sit back and see how it goes.
