palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
Is anyone else getting this? I'm in a university lab computer though so I'm not sure if that's a factor.
EDIT: Interestingly it doesn't happen in Edge from the same computer...

No, it just shows up as usual, with the search engine on top and various link icons below.

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
Have you ever had an account there?
If so, maybe it is an errant cookie that is prompting a login?
No sign in request on my end on a new "install".
That said...
Home Page: (shows as) http://start.palemoon.org/
YET, on first browser open,
https://www.palemoon.org/firstrun.shtml, opened
as did, https://palemoon.start.me/ru.
Note the /ru in the URL.
No idea why that loaded instead of, http://start.palemoon.org/ ?
As it was the /ru page (initially) loaded "blank".
Opening a new window, now also loads /ru, but populated.

Restarting...
/ru again loads.
Clear Recent History -> Last Hour (& so cookies also)
Ctrl+T, Alt+Home, loads, https://palemoon.start.me/ru
And this time, the page says, "403, You have no access to this page
We're sorry, you don't have access to the page you requested.
To view this page, you may have to sign in with a different account.".
Ctrl+N, then loads, https://palemoon.start.me/ru, though populated this time, instead of a "403".

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
start.me uses geolocation to serve you a localized version of the start portal.
If you're not in russia but are being forwarded to /ru, then that is a start.me bug and you should report it to them

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
https://palemoon.start.me/ redirects to https://palemoon.start.me/ru and I am not in russia.
https://palemoon.start.me/start shows the English page.

This is weird, it does it for me too.Kris_88 wrote: ↑2023-09-18, 19:14https://palemoon.start.me/ redirects to https://palemoon.start.me/ru and I am not in russia.
Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
Things like this poke at my paranoia, and the fact it defaults to the Russian page makes that even worse. So I created a new profile, but when I open up the new profile, it goes straight to the Russian start.me page.
Is there some kind of way to work around that at (before) the first start-up?

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
not before first startup
Like I said report it to start.me -- support@start.me
I can't do much about it (aside from doing some redirection voodoo, bypassing localized and custom pages for everyone).
Because of the persistent nature of these issues I've shot them an e-mail myself as well now.

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
start.me doesn't prompt me for login here in home, so I'm guessing this is just one of start.me's shenanigans... I will just mark this as resolved. *shrug*
Never had an account there. It's a new install in the university lab computer.

I had this issue happen to me before many times actually, but it takes me to different countries (like Italy). Despite me always connecting from my Philippine ISP... I just ignored it since I don't really use startme much anyway.

Re: palemoon.start.me requiring sign in
The redirect to the Russian start page problem appears to be resolved as well. At least it isn't happening to me any more.
