Multifox!?

Unread post by Enkidu » 2015-10-04, 06:30

Hi,

with FF I used Multifox https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/multifox/ and it was perfect if you had to separate different sessions. I do not get it working.

Is there a working version for PM?

Tnx in advance,
Enkidu

I checked here and Version 2.0.7 installed successfully for me. Try that and let me know how it goes.

Yeah, it's a shame he will stop development for it because of all the changes Mozilla is making to their browser, Firefox; multiple identities by design will be or is supported by Firefox already. See here: https://github.com/hultmann/multifox/issues/215#issuecomment-126537223

Here's another one though, called CookieSwap: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cookieswap/. Haven't tried it out yet, so if do, please let me know how it works/compares to Multifox.
With Pale Moon by my side, surfing the web is quite enjoyable and takes my headaches away! :)

CookieSwap is swapping the cookies globally, unlike Multifox which let different identities coexist in different tabs.

Frustrating that the author of Multifox is abandoning (so it's not possible to ask him to consider supporting Pale Moon isn't it). Wish there be a fork of Multifox. I have modified the application GUID in its install.rdf, but the 3.0.2 and 2.2.1 versions do not work on Pale Moon both.

2.0.7 is indeed installable and the toolbar button, menu of Multifox work. But it does not support the HTTP Basic Authentication of Gmail now, so an error comes up.

It seems that this is now been removed from the add on site.
I even tried DDG for it and got the same result but in English.

Even the last link to version 2.0.7 by solariszero is giving the same results.

Multifox is still available here:

https://github.com/hultmann/multifox/releases

According to that page, "Mozilla removed Multifox from AMO (maybe due to e10s incompatibility, I don't know the reason)."

Dear Nigaikaze,
Does Multifox work (fully) on your Pale Moon? If so, could you share which version of Multifox and Pale Moon you are using? Thanks!

I myself have tested 2.0.7 on PM 27.0.3, but is hardly working normally. (toolbar icon is there, but it can hardly switch even Gmail identity, the most basic usage)

3.2.3 is not compatible with 27.0.3, and after disabling compatibility check, it can be installed, but nothing comes out. No toolbar button to switch profiles appearing.

Dear solariszero,

I have installed 3.2.3 (with compatibility check disabled) and 2.0.7 on my PM. None of them really works, sadly.

Here is an urge to hope the original developer or anyone else can fork it for Pale Moon:
