Status Bar

Post by twistedvincent » 2014-05-18, 09:51

I've looked at all the status bar options under tools but for some reason the status bar still isn't showing at all.

Any ideas???

Try the menu, View > Toolbars > Status Bar

Or press Ctrl + / on the keyboard to enable it.

You mean that you have "Status Bar" checked under View > Toolbars, and still no status bar showing up ?

Have a look at your add-ons, you may have an incompatibility problem. Try restarting the browser in 'Safe Mode' - that is with all add-ons disabled, If your 'Status Bar' returns you need to find and eliminate the offending incompatible add-on(s)

Well, I did as you asked and all that popped up was an X and kind of a bar at the bottom but when I went to pages with download links and such there was still nothing in the status bar. It's just a solid color.

Okay, so you've got your 'Status Bar' back, now go to 'Status Bar Options' and make sure it's configured like this:

You'll have to re-initialize the status bar code. Do this by setting status4evar.firstRun to "true" in about:config and restarting the browser.
It's also in the FAQ: http://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=391

I set status4evar.firstRun to true but it switches back to false upon restart....strange.
I also noticed that every time I enable the add on compatibility assistant it switches off at restart as well.

FirstRun switches back to false upon restart by design. That's not strange: it re-initializes the code, then flips the preference so it doesn't do it again on the next run.

Did it solve your problem, though?

Hmm, Okay restart PM in 'Safe Mode' again and while in safe mode go through the 'Status Bar' re-initialization sequence once more. What happens?

Yes, restarting the browser in 'Safe Mode' to see if your 'Status Bar' is present and functions correctly, report back the result?

Can you list your add-ons?

There's quite a few but no new ones. I've pretty much used all these add-ons for years.
