The update could not be installed. PMP 5 -> PMP 6

Unread post by Beast Of Bodmin » 2011-09-05, 09:26

PMP installed on a Windows 7 system on a network drive.

I initially did a "clean" install of PMP 5. No problems so far. After PMP 5 found the v6 update, every time I started PMP it would run the updater, then flash this message. (The update was not completed):

"The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other
running on your computer, and then restart Pale Moon to try again."

So I manually installed PMP 6 by downloading the installer to the same directory and running the installer.

I am now running PMP 6, but upon launching PMP 6, the installer is still run and I still get the above message.

I get the feeling something is not cleaning up properly somewhere.

Any ideas?

Go to the PM application folder (bin/palemoon), find active-update.xml and updates.xml.
Remove them together with the "updates" folder.

It was very rude of me not to reply to this for so long.

Your suggestion did the trick.

Thank you so much!
