360° video capability.

Unread post by Daikun » 2015-06-28, 22:34

ViHart uploaded this video to YouTube today...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3xOB-Bigc8

It seems the special 360° feature is exclusive to Chrome, according to YouTube's help guide.

Let's see if we can break that...

More "Embrace, extend, extinguish", this time for video playback (well, more than they already do, anyway)?
Not sure what you are suggesting or asking for re: Pale Moon. If it's to implement a non-standard media handler, then the answer will be "no".

It's Chrome exclusive.

FYI Youtbue's 360 video is now working fine in Firefox v40.0. Something must've changed in recent Firefox versions to enable this.

Happened to me today. Youtube started showing a notice "this browser does not support 360 video".

Changed the useragent to the same I have on an old Chrome installed:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/37.0.2062.124 Safari/537.36

Enabled MSE (and both for MP4/WebM) and now I can see those 360 videos without a problem :)

How did you change user agent?
type "about:config" without the quotes on the URL bar and press enter.

To change the user agent for youtube, just look for "general.useragent.override.youtube.com". Double click it to type whatever you want the user agent string to be.
