How about a ticker alert at the top of the pale moon window that warns, "Pale Moon must install a critical update. Please save your work. Pale Moon will restart in 5 minutes."? A small timer can go down to 0 from 5:00.
1. This is less intrusive than the current pop-up window.
2. This installs important patches very quickly.
3. This gives the user enough time to prepare.

Re: automatic update countdown
So you're gonna spam the forum until you get what you want? Do you really think that is gonna work and not result in consequences?
Re: automatic update countdown
Sorry, the other topic was closed, and I couldn't reply there. I thought a new topic would qualify as a new request.
Re: automatic update countdown
Sounds more bothersome than clicking a pop-up window once in a while, to be honest.
Re: automatic update countdown
Did you think about the very real possibility that a person could be away from the computer during those 5 minutes? Getting up to make a pot of coffee, taking a bathroom break, etc.? If that were to happen (and it would eventually) then anything else a person had done (i.e., like filling out some kind of text field in the browser) would be lost.
That's the problem, it's not. It's the old request with just new details.
Re: automatic update countdown
I can see preferring a notification bar at the top rather than a popup, but an automatic restart doomsday countdown is extremely user-hostile and is very bad practice, no matter how much Microsoft or anyone else tries to normalize it.
