Might be me, but it would be nice to have the search query sticky while travers history or bookmarks,
as it will reset while switching months for example.
Btw it looks like the selection on left is not only listing from august, might be gnomes in my database..

Please understand that search and selection are mutually exclusive, not combinatory.
So if you search, you will search all history. If you select a range, it will show that range. That is why the search is cleared, since selecting a range clears any search terms.
Making it combinatory will require a rewrite of the logic, which is far from trivial.

In case of a search, un-highlighting the selection on the left would fix the UX.
