Toolbar button to toggle compatibility mode and indicate when it is on

I currently use User Agent Overrider 0.2.4.1 (the latest that works with Pale Moon 26, 27) to set my UA string rather than using Tools, Options, Compatibility because:

- Usually I turn off this extension and PM's compatibility mode option - I want the world to know that I'm using Pale Moon.

- Occasionally I go to a website that doesn't work properly because it does not recognize the browser. I might only go to this site once or twice, so I don't want to bother setting a per-site UA string in about:config. I want to switch on Firefox (or now possibly Gecko) compatibiliy mode quickly and easily - clicking a button on the toolbar is much easier than going into Tools Options. Importantly, I want to be able to readily see that I am faking the UA string, so that I remember to turn it off when I'm done with that site - the tool bar button does this, whereas the Tools Options does not.

One downside of this is that I have to manually update the UA strings in the extension to match later versions of Firefox.

Is it feasible to have a "native" Pale Moon button that I can put on the toolbar that will quickly and easily turn on/off compatibility mode and (importantly) let me see at a glance that compatibility mode is on (FF or Gecko, not native) so that I remember to turn it off when I'm done with it?
