Please don't pin to the taskbar when I make Pale Moon the default browser

I have Pale Moon installed on my work PC, but I deliberately do not always have it as the default browser (due to the nature of what I do on that PC) - I occasionally change the default browser, eg switching between PM and Internet Explorer. When I set Pale Moon to be the default - either by explicitly clicking the button on the Tools, Options, Advanced General dialog, or because I told it to ask me every time it runs - Pale Moon also pins itself to the taskbar (on Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise, SP1, 64-bit). However I suggest that it should NOT pin itself to the taskbar just because it has become the default browser. The two behaviours (pinning and default browser) are functionally independent and invoking one should not invoke the other. I much prefer PM (and it is always my default browser at home) but I do not like or want applications pinned to my taskbar. (Obviously I can manually unpin it, but I should not have to, because I did not ask it to be pinned in the first place.)
It's a small thing I know, but if you get a chance, I'd appreciate your fixing it.
Thanks.

I hate the entire concept of pinning.
On my Win8.1 system, I've completely disabled this feature.
I've restored the classic Quick Launch toolbar instead.

Yeah this makes no sense to me either. I mean we have a desktop, start menu and quick launch to open our programs/apps from. Plus, we can even choose a shortcut key, which is more convenient and a bit faster. Not to mention it just adds extra load time, at least for me anyway. So....... Why is this function enabled by default?
Can this be an option in the installation process to disable, MC, please? I've seen other browser offer this.

Pinning to the taskbar should only happen if you use the installer, or if you update and it is already pinned. Making the browser the default handler for its file types and supported protocols shouldn't pin it (and it's not something I have ever seen happening either...?). I just verified on Win 8.1 that in fact, it indeed does NOT pin itself to the taskbar when setting it as the default browser.
As for the pinning feature itself, I personally find it a very useful feature. I have the applications pinned that I use pretty much all day off and on, so it's always at a predictable location in the taskbar (the pinned one) and always accessible with one click even if other programs are full-window.

Do you have a Windows 7 installation that you can test it on?
Can anyone else replicate the behaviour that I reported?
On both of my normal Windows 7 machines - and also with a clean install of Windows 7 Pro and a clean install of Pale Moon 26.3.3 (so neither has any of my preferred non-default settings) - PM very definitely and reproducibly pins itself to the taskbar every time it makes itself the default browser, including when it is already installed (as non-default browser) and not pinned.

I use Windows 7; this behavior does NOT occur there.

That's odd, because it does happen on multiple machines for me. Any hints or suggestions as to why it might occur on some machines but not others, or how I can stop it? Further information about the machines that I can replicate the problem on:
#1 - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, SP1. Auto-updates of Windows are disabled so there have been very few changes to Windows since SP1 (which I installed myself, from the DVD). This machine has a Windows Classic theme, and lots of UI customizations. Pale Moon is installed and the profile customised to my taste.
#2 - Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, SP1. This is a work machine, installed and controlled by the IT department, so it is regularly updated with Windows updates. It has Windows Classic theme, and lots of UI customizations (but not as many as #1). Pale Moon customised per #1
#3 - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, SP1, installed from the Microsoft DVD on a virtual machine (VirtualBox 5.1.2). No updates or configuration other than installing Virtual Box Guest Additions and Pale Moon. PM is installed with all default settings, no add-ins or UI customization.
Is it feasible for you to try with a clean install of Windows 7 and PM in a virtual machine, eg as I did in #3?
